Argon was today honoured to be presented with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category by Sir Hugh Duberly, Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire. We were also privileged to be visited by Antoinette Jackson, Chief Executive of Cambridge City Council and David Gill, Chief Executive of St John’s Innovation Centre.
The Award is in recognition of the industry-leading Argon Streams product which is used to verify that the video decoders required to play back video content on mobile phones, computers and set-top boxes are fully compatible with the required video compression standards.
Sir Hugh and our other guests toured the Argon office, where members of the team described some of the projects and technologies we’re working on, including Argon360 real-time video stitching technology, which is aimed at enabling next generation 360-degree camera products.
In the formal presentation Sir Hugh illustrated his admirable understanding of our work, and emphasised the importance of innovation. After the presentation the Argon team and guests mingled for informal conversation over a glass of champagne and an excellent celebratory buffet.
This was an exciting first for Argon - we're all hoping it's the first of many.
